Recommend me a Sports tourer

Definately a Blackbird!! Had one before the GSA, great bike does everything well, you can get one under 4K Best value rocket ship you can get!!

Another vote for the blackbird.

Go for post Treg the fuel injection model has Hondas HISS alarm immboliser as standard.

Get VFR (V-TEC) handle bars, theyre slightly higher and make a big difference for touring.

Ive had both versions and they are sooooooperb, you can pootle around town, blast round the lakes and tour two up with luggage around europe, etc.

And its Honda:thumb

The nice blokes on the B.I.R.D. forum have told me go for a early carb'd model as there faster more economical and have fewer faults.

HISS great idea, unless every thing goes wrong then you need to replace every thing in the ignition system including the CPU

Main reason Ive had for not buying a Blackbird..........its a Honda :D

I know it's not within your specified budget. But I've just spent a week with a K1200 GT while my 12ADV had another week off on the sick.
What an awesome bike.
Never really been on a sports tourer before, it's been a real buzz.
Seriously thinking of swapping the ADV for one.

I like the older brick engined K1200's dont like the styling on the newer across the frame models.

Blackbird....

Blackbird, blackbird!!!
On my second. Wish i had kept the first then i wouldn't have had to get another one. Does it all (apart from off road!!) Good spares backup via e bay and various forums etc. Get one in standard form. There is not alot to do to then in reality. Does what it says on the tin

Blackbird!

26,000 miles over two years on my last Blackbird, never skipped a beat. They're quick and they handle great :thumb2

If I was you I would be checking the motor auctions

A lot of Police forces are selling off there 1300 pans and they are making in the region of 3500 quid

Monkey on a respray and you have a bike worth about 5k or more

Avon and somerset are selling 20 or so in dribs and drabs and they are complete with panniers (no holes in there) and the dual seat with all the suspension put back to stock .

I dont usually advocate buying ex police vehicles as they are genrally abused but these are a bargain :thumb2

The only holes are on the mirror cover and these can be filled when getting a spray job .

(unless your one of these saddo's that want to look like a bike cop)

I bought this for 3k (2001 29k miles)

Absolutely brill IMHO, it's comfy, easily quick enough for most situations, handles well and is economical.

I got the BM panniers and top box too!!!!

A very capable bike, I got one as a stop gap whilst one of my bikes was being repaired, that was nearly two years ago.......Can`t seem to let it go, nothing compares when munching miles, kin things fast as feck too....

Not wanting to start any arguments
But whats the opinion on the ideal large sports tourer ?
I'm looking at getting myself something to drag my fat arse pillion/luggage etc on a euro tour, Blackbird, K1200RS or 1200 Trophy perhaps Any other (clean) suggestions ?

I just sold my Blackbird to move up to a GS, my mate is also doing the same, his Bird is on EBay if your in the market for one.
