I want to get my wheels painted. It's for an '04 1200 GS. They're standard cast alloys. I did consider powder coating but I think I'd prefer to have them painted....maybe.

Would appreciate any recommendations. Somewhere around Herts, Beds or Essex, as I live in North London, would be good.

Thanks

There's a guy on Canvey Island near Southend who I used for all four wheels on my landcruiser. Did a great job and was cheap. Goes the extra yard, not just a spray over. J.P. Polishing, have a look on Facebook, I know he does bike wheels. I'm purely a satisfied customer.

£40 pr wheel is good price. But he needs to know the OEM paint has to be chemically stripped - its too hard to grit blast the paint off.

Paint -
Lightly grit blast to flat the OEM paint finish. Be absolutely sure all corrosion areas are cleaned, acid treated to stop the oxidation and etch primed. Use whatever paint you like.

I had my cast alloys powder coated by a small industrial coating company. The guy also does a lot os bike parts so did a great job. Probably not ideal unless you post or Hermes the wheels. With dipping about £40 per wheel.

The OEM coating has to be chemical stripped which at least kills most of the corrosion but you also need to treat all potentially corroded areas to stop the oxidation continuing under the new finish. Coaters will lightly grit blast and do the coating. Wheels have to be fully stripped with all bearings removed. Coaters need to mask off the bearing areas

Had the wheels powdercoated in the end. They were done by Autowiz in Welwyn Garden City. http://www.autowiz.co.uk/alloy-wheel-repair-welwyn/ and they have come up a treat.

Really pleased with the results and at a very reasonable price of £90 plus vat for the two wheels

I wanted to post a couple of pics but the option to do this doesn't seem to work for me
