Folks,

I have a set of cylinder heads from my old Mono R80RT with 110K miles on. So its about time I got the valves and guides replaced.

I live on the Herts / Essex border. Is there a company nearby who can have a look at and recon the heads?

Thanks

Brian

The heads are off the bike, Steve did tell me who he used to do the valves and guides, but I forgot :augie

Richard Moore is the guy I use , highly recommended and would not use anyone else

Just you let you know the heads were returned after a full refurb. They can only be described as a work of art and make the rest of the engine look filthy. I also learnt that the heads have push rod tubes.

But the story don't end there, I got the heads done as I had a rattle and assumed it was a valve guide and they needed the valves replacing anyway due to the mileage.

Fitted the heads and it still rattled.

Swapped the rocker arms for known good ones and it still rattled

replaced the push rods for known good ones and it still rattled

All I am left with now are the cam followers and my question is, replace them with new or secondhand? Replace the one I think is causing the rattle or all of them?

Eeek They're rough!

Good used ones are decent enough

Its the pockets where the materials start breaking away that you need to look for

Lesson learn't I presume?

Got a rattle have a look at those boyos

One would not like to assume but has sir has ordered the 4 little o rings and 2 large ones?

And when refitting to go effin gently with the torque wrench with the Mono blocks??

The number of them I have had to sort because someone didn't reduce the settings (for a Mono) and just jacked the threads clean out of the block! ( to be honest they may have just been "making sure" they were tight But Mono blocks don;t like it
