I need to convert some .MOV/.MOI files to something else (preference is mpeg).

Anyone recommend some freeware?

Greg

thought VLC was just a playout platform which opens pretty much any file.

I've posted the link the NCH we've used that before, but now use pro-coder which costs money.

Think again....

Conversion and streaming.

Just SD (we've had that debate before!).Greg

Oh... gold fish brain can't recall putting my shoes on...

Unfortunately, I must have used the NCH before as I'm timed out of the trial period. Perhaps I can find the cookie and delete it.Greg

I'll have a look if the lads have found anything else that's any good.

Just for encoding - I'm using Sony Vegas to edit.

Greg

have you considered building a basic timeline in something else then coverting and doing the polishing in vegas?

QT pro is an good platform and easy to use and reasonably priced, premier by itself is cheap and will accept pretty much anything thrown at it. Less conversion the less noise and artifacts will be in the final piece.

Read you post about SUPER (no need to shout!). According to the guff, it doesn't list converting from .mov files.

I've downloaded Hamster and something else I can't remember the name of and am having a little play. It's only for a DVD of the Tossers-in-the-Tejeda III. The recipients were so pissed most of the time, I doubt they will even notice it's in colour let alone the finery of 5.1 sound!
