Hi, as per the title can anyone recommend a decent pair of wellingtons please.

My calf’s are 45cms diameter so I am a bit restricted for choice. I actually had to cut by last pair of Hunters off after my ankle swelled.

Thanks

Bill

 errrr... 45 centimeters.... is almost half a meter and in diameter too...
I doubt there is a wellie in the world which is going to fit those measurements.

I really thought that this was what you meant....

I'll stick my head over the parapet and suggest that you may mean CIRCUMFERENCE- there is a just a bit of difference!
Traffic893 is correct in suggesting Jileon.com who do up to 57cm Circumference and foot size 12 although they said 'low stock more coming end of month- yes I did call to save you time.
Call them on 01488 647253

Thanks for pointing out that schoolboy error, I did obviously mean circumference. Doh. Thanks for your help and the phone number

Well I was going to take the piss as even circumference sounded a lot but just measured and mine are 49cm

Muck Derwent II fit me no issues

I don’t know where you would get them. I remember in my youth seeing people with slits cut in the top of the boots which might be better than cutting the top off. JJH

An old saying “how do you spot the farmer? It’s the wellie marks on the calfs.” JJH

And purchased from Jileon with a rather nice 25% discount for signing up for their newsletter.

Thanks for the recommendation.

Costco had loads of ankle wellies for less than a score.

I use Le Chameau wellies...wide calves, fairly high leg, very supple indeed and highly recommended. Best I've ever used.

Are any of these wide wellies comfortable for 2-3 mile trudges across fields, followed by a 1 mile walk on tarmac, which is my average dog walk. My Dunlops are fine for the fields but not comfortable on tarmac.

My wife has these, longevity wise quality bit of kit, worn daily on a 2 hour walk in the morning and about 1 hour in the afternoon. 1st pair lasted almost 3 years, just on her second pair about six months ago.
Not cheap but as a Long term boot-well worth it.
She doest have large calfs though.

Had mine 10 years now and still serviceable and comfortable. I think I paid £80 or thereabouts 10 years back for them, so £8/yr not a bad investment.

Mine arrived this morning and out through the woods with the 14 year very slow lab this afternoon.
First thoughts were how strange to have so much room at the top of the welly. Very comfortable in the foot, and didn’t notice the extra width after a few minutes.
A top recommendation.
