Hi, I am considering going to Corsica for a week of pootling around and was wondering if anyone can recommend a campsite on the west of the island as this is where I'd like to base myself.
We did a 2 site stay (10-12 years ago), 1 in the mountains and 1 on the coast. In reality Corsica is doable from 1 site. This site was recommended by a French tourist who went to Corsica every year. It’s a nice site just off the main route with a short walk to the beach.
Have you been to Corsica before?

I have been to Corsica once before but I was 13 and it was 40 years ago
One of the main reasons for asking is that in the past I have travelled and stayed only 1 night at campsites so if it's a bit crap then not too much of a problem as I'm gone first thing in the morning. Don't want to book somewhere only to find out it is not the best so looking for personal recommendations
As I say it was a few years ago but a really nice campsite with a great beach and I’d definitely go back again.
We were there at the height of the season (we didn’t book but no problem) so we got up early, leaving at around 7.30am to avoid the heat and traffic. We would ride the coast roads before the crowds and stop for a mid morning breakfast at a nice beach bar. Then head up into the coolness of the mountains for the rest of the day.
The food is superb ( if you like hearty, game stews and charcuterie you’re in for a treat). We did have to battle the coaches and campers on the way back but a late afternoon dip in the sea was our reward.
It’s one of the best places I’ve been on a bike and we often talk about going back - enjoy
