Thanks for the suggestions guys. My wife wants to go to the coast so anywhere else is out I'm afraid ;)

Looks like Honfleur or Fecamp at the moment although I'm a bit shocked at how much the ferry is for a weekend. Feckin £60 is the cheapest I've found and that's soddin Fast Ferries seasick cat to Boulogne. We're in the car I'm afraid as transporting wine and beer is much easier :)

Cheers

Did you check the Newhaven to Dieppe ferry ?? 2 hours crossing in a cat..

Get yourself to the beaches of Normandy, welcoming friendly people, lovely areas try St Aubin sur mer beautiful.
You can then go to the lovely medieval town of Bayeux and just down the road from Caen.
Beautiful unspolit coastal roads great for riding (take it your going on your bike :D )
The other choice for a relaxing romantic weekend is St Malo beautiful walled town sailings direct to it really do recommend them all :thumb

I can recommend the Hotel du Centre in Wimereux, not that far from Boulogne or Calais ports and handy for a variety of hypermarkets and dodgy cockney owned beer and wine outlets... and some tourist stuff. Far enough away not to be plagued by would-be asylum seekers unlike the port towns themselves...

The plus point is the hotel has a really good restaurant... They have garage parking even for four-wheelers for a few extra euros a night.
