Hi, I'm new to the world of BMW, I live in Melton Mowbray and my nearest dealers are:

Roy Pidcock Motorcycles
Balderston Motorcycles
Wollaston Motors
Rainbow Motorcycles
Clarks

I'd be very interested to hear the views of anyone that's used any of them.

Thanks in advance

I only have experience of Clarks. I found the service department to be friendly and helpfull. The sales team less so :nenau

Rainbow!

I'm considering travelling down from the Highlands to change.
Only had fantastic service from them.

One of the dealers up here hasn't even replied to an email enquiry I sent more than a week ago?:augie

Just bought my 650GS from Bristol Motorrad, Tony was the salesman, very good service but as I've not been to any others i'm unable to compare....
Just say i'd go back to Bristol with no hesitation.....

Sorry, I should have said, it's mainly service I'm interested in, I bought the GS privately and my (much) better half says I won't be needing a sales department for quite a while.

Absolutely no connection but I would strongly recommend Wollaston`s in Northampton.....:thumb
Even living in Peterborough - home of Balderstons - I still found that Wollaston`s could not be beaten on the price of my new 07 GS, it was over £1000 cheaper for exactly the same spec of GS, Balderstons were just not willing to negotiate on the list price, I just got a flat NO, can`t fault the service dept. though, use to have my old 1150GS serviced by them.
The customer service that I have recieved from Wollaston`s since with regards to both bike service and after care has been first class and cannot be faltered.
Another example came when a friend of mine was after a complete set of Vario luggage, panniers + topbox with comfort pad for his GSA, bearing in mind he lives near Newcastle the cheapest quote he got was £1100, I put him in touch with the guys at Wollaston`s and they did it for £880 including fitting, well worth the trip down.
Give them a call, nothing ventured, nothing gained, I`m sure you won`t be dissapointed.....:thumb

Hi Slowjohn-I've used Pidcocks for 5 years for my 1150 and they've been very good but they aren't cheap! Have you tried doing some of the work yourself? I got myself a Haynes last year and a few bits and bobs for tools (especially a Carbtune) and even a mechanical numpty like me can fettle an 1150. I'd have saved myself a fortune if I'd done it a few years ago!

There's an option! Is the Haynes manual better than the Clymer for the GSA?

Do they cover things like what you should do at each service? It's years since I've used a Haynes manual and they used to be very good at telling how to do different jobs but not what you should cover on a service (unless my memory is failing me again :drool)

Erm..dunno to be honest, I've not looked at a Clymer. I tend to look at the manual and then see what people actually do by looking on here and AdvRider. There's a useful checklist for servicing on there too (pm me and i can email it to you). Of course thats for an 1150-what have you got?
