For anyone looking for a comfortable and warm base to tour the West Country, I can strongly recommend Foxgloves's Cottage in Maristow Barton, Devon. The cottage is minutes away from the beautiful Lopwell Dam and River Tavey, and sits in a haven for wildlife. If you're brave, you're welcome to ride your bike across the weir or the ford (search YouTube for Lopwell Dam). It's superb for birdwatching- excellent walking and cycling routes nearby. The cottage is an immaculate single storey building on the edge of Dartmoor and sits within 2 acres of grounds, which includes the owner’s home. You can explore the garden or enjoy the stunning views down to the river on the private patio. The sitting room is warm and spacious with double doors onto the outside garden and the kitchen is very well equipped. The nearest pub, The Who'd Have Thought It Inn https://whodhavethoughtitdevon.co.uk/ is 1.5miles from the cottage.
