Red cable going nowhere

Hi all,
New to forums. Picked up a 2005 1200GS yesterday following a longish break from motorbikes. Was just checking under bike for leaks etc and came across a red wire dangling over right side almost touching engine. Does anything know what it could have been connected to? Everything appears to be working. The other end was attached to the relay below between those other two cables.

It isn't standard so you'll have to trace it. Do you have any aftermarket auxiliary lights/horn etc?

Seems there are two wires missing,either for the lead or the trigger so it's probably isn't doing anything.

Thanks for the reply. Can’t really trace it as the only connected end was the relay. It has aux lights but they also work. When you say isn’t standard, you mean that the wire would have been something extra/ aftermarket ?

So a 30A relay code 024001.

I'm thinking it could be a relay for say a horn upgrade, since disconnected.

Just remove it & check the trigger wires haven't been tucked away somewhere, waiting to bite you at a later date ......... under the tank/by the battery?

So one end was plugged into that relay, the other I found disconnected (no connector or anything) towards the front of the bike just so over the engine . That’s how I found it. There was no way of seeing what it was connected to but I figured I don’t want it touching engine etc so just unplugged it.

Looks like a previous owner has wired up some ancillary equipment which has since been removed. I’d just remove it if I were you.

Thanks. Yes done. Just wanted to make sure it’s nothing important.

I'd remove it and as much as the wire as you can as it's not needed. The main switched load is generally connected to terminal 30/87 and the trigger to 85/86.
