Hi, I've transfered out here with work for a few years. I just bought the bike before I was moved, selling it wasn't an option so tried to import it. Couldn't do that because I'm a temporary resident and it was less than 12 months old. Had to bring it over on a carnet but it's been no problem at all and UK plates are handy with all the tolls here! Only minor hassle will be when I head into another state. NSW is fine and you don't need anything else if you are currently taxed in the UK. Other states all have their own rules on insurance etc. and noone here seems that clued up on them, this should help though. (http://www.aaa.asn.au/touring/bringing.htm#nsw). Thinking of doing a trip to Uluru along the desert tracks mid year when it's cooled down a bit and this will probably mean heading through SA and VIC so I'll need to sort this out. Hope this helps.
