The red ABS warning light keeps comming on on my 1150GS.
It doesn't flash, it just sits there, glowing.
If I stop, switch off the ignition, and then restart, it goes away once I've ridden off.
Sometimes it doesn't come back, sometimes it does.

The hand book suggests that it's a rear brake light failure, the brake light works when I apply the front lever, is it a separate circuit for the foot brake?

Or do they all do that?

Doh!

Two things it might be:

1) Low battery voltage? Sometimes the ABS doesn't reset properly if it is not high enough. Happens usually on a cold start, stopping later and restarting it's OK.

2) There might be a fallback circuit that uses the tail light bulb as an emergency brake light if the bulb blows, so it would look, on inspection, that it still works. Pull the lens and check all bulbs.

The brake/tailight bulb has 2 elements. the circuit has a fail-safe so in the event of one failing the other does both jobs, ie; it will be on low power as a tail light until you hit the brake and then goes on full. (Pity my local dealer didn't know this! )

When mine blows a bulb the ABS light stays on, none stop, I can't see why it would go off after just stopping:confused:

My advice is to try a bulb first (might just be loose), if not the bulb, you might need the system checked :(

Thanks guys,

a further reading of the manual lead me to suspect that's what it might be, but my Germinglish ain't that good.
Thanks for the assistance.
