Iv'e got the urge to look at the brakes, according to others on the site, the pistons should be smeared with red ruber grease to help prevent them seizing. I'm on the outskirts of Southampton, where do I get my hands on this stuff.

I successfully ordered some from a site suggested from here. 2 hours later, got an e-mail saying sorry, but discontinued. This was for about 50g tube about £7.

Hurts to get it posted as it doubles the price. Halfords drew a blank.

Castrol red rubber grease is the product, no douby others make it?

from the castrol site

Useful in assembly of rubber components for brake, clutch and suspension units

I got mine from Oscott in Cov but they dont have a website

Most automotive suppliers should stock it. (the suppliers that the trade use that is)

IIRC lucas also do their own as well, think it's called brake grease.

And you can also use silicone grease from plumbers' merchants.

I have a friend who just happens to head up the motorcycle division of a certain multi-national oil company whose product has already been mentioned on this thread. I'll leave it up to you to guess what he uses.

I was advised to use silicone grease by a friend.

A late reply but better than never
Opie oils stock it - check their website and click under the Fuchs icon
Got a 500g tin for around a six pounds that should see me out.
