I took mine off oh about 4 hours ago and I can't seem to put the bloddy thing back on. :o

(And breathe.........) :

What's the trick for getting the front top rubber plug back through the hole on the bike..... The point goes through but not the "skirt"

Please help me or I'm spending the night in the garage or going out on the bike tomorrow with gaffer tape to hold the front of the wing on! :blast

Thanks

Spooky - I just took mine off before I logged on and seen your post...and I too had a problem refitting it. As I took the side panel off, the rubber gromit feel off and rolled into that 'hard to reach' place most garages seem to have! Anyway, once I found it, it went back into the retaining hole with just a little force, twisting and pushing required. If yours is a tight fit, try a wee dab of washing up liquid to help squeeze it back in. Hope that helps but im sure somebody with a bit more technical expertise will be along soon to help. :thumb

Line up the top edge first, make sure the section on the tank panel is under the groove in the side panel.

Engage the upper dzus fastener then press the pointy bit (tecnical term:augie) into the rubber grommet, then engage the lowr dzus fastner.

Finally push the lower side panel at the front so it engages with the lock fastner, (make sure it is turned so it is horizontal) it should engage with a click.

If your stuck PM me a phone number and I''l give you a ring.

Bob & Thunder,

Thanks for the replies. I did wonder whether to apply a dab of washing up liquid to help it on but then wondered whether it might help it off again at speed.

Thinking about it, I suppose it should be held on OK but the torx screw.

Right then back to the garage and off to bed I have an early start...

Might get some sleep after all! :)

PS> The reason I couldn't get the :augie thing back , was the whole rubber gromit had come away from the bike. From your descriptions & once I had realised this, prised it of the wing, fitted it to the bike, it was a piece of cake.

Thanks for the help.

C.
