I'm really getting into this refurb stuff, telly on the background, kettle ready to make tea, heater ... anyways

The crash bars on my 2012 are dirty/ greasy in places but also have some surface rust where they have been in contact with other ferrite metals. The bars have a sort of anodised finish to them - they're not smooth. Any ideas on how to get rid of the surface rust / stains?

Powder coat for a pro finish. Otherwise, slip them off, prep well & then use a rattle can of black Hammerite.
