registering an imported 1250gs ?

Hi, a friend of a friend has brought his r1250gs with him from south africa.
What is required to register it here in the UK ?
A s far as I am aware in south africa they drive on the left like us etc so no problem with the lights etc, but it will need an mot and possibly a certificate of conformity ?
All the import duties have been paid as I understand it.

Thanks hawkeye, that has already been looked at I understand, what could well be the problem is producing this "type approval" or certificate of conformity for the GS.
I think he is trying to contact BMW in Germany to ask them what differences there might be for the different markets.
