Hi.
anyone give avice on buying an Eire bike then registering it the Uk on an age related plate. I think the actual bike was imported into ireland from the USA some years ago and wears an age related Eire plate.
Is it simple, quick in-expensive to do and is there any vat duty etc to cough up?

Any advice gratefully received

Many thanks

The UK don't have VRT, and if it's not new and being imported from the EU there should be no VAT.

I'd check with inland revenue in the UK though.

Its Very straight forward.
There is a £40 registration fee .
Basically thats it , you should however make sure the Lights are
Rhd amd not Lhd for the USA.
There is no Vehicle test in Ireland , so it wouldnt have been an issue
unlike the UK

Just be careful it doesn't need an EU type approval cert to register here. If it's over 10 years old it's not a problem because it'll be exempt. Less than 10 years and it will need to be SVA'd, particularly if it originated in the US.
