registering my 660

Okay I have a 660 and need to register it,

I go to how to register my Garmin

To register your Garmin device, visit the Garmin registration page online. To begin, select the type of product you wish to register then follow these easy steps based upon the product selected:

when I go to this page, it tells me to download Garmin Express

no where on Garmin Express is product registration

on INFo it tells me my 660's

serial number, software version etc and internal storage 44% leaving me 2.1gb out of 16gb I don't see the SD card

also I installed upto date maps on 660 but now realise I can also install on the computer as well, options are device only or computer only or both, since I updated the 660 which should I pick to now download onto the computer

sorry if these questions seem stupid, but Garmin don't seem to be very numpty friendly is it me ??

Computer only, as you gave already updated the maps on the device. The device will need to be connected to (and stay connected to) the PC when you do this.

Next time, chose the 'both' option from the start.


To register your device and if you are struggling with 'Garmin Express', open an account (it's free) at 'My Garmin' and go from there.

I updated my Zumo and PC at the same time just over a week ago using Garmin Express.

To expand on my reply:

The images above are for the 2.4.4.0 PC version of GE. As I already have 2014.40 mapping installed it's showing as a re-install, however, an update is very similar.

The GPS itself has about 4GB ISTR, part of this is taken up by firmware and other files. Leaves nowhere near enough room for all of the European mapping.

Currently when you do an update the Junction View and 3D Buildings files get put onto the internal storage, the mapping onto your SD card. The two former files are pretty large in their own right.

Right click on device or sd card icon on your computer & click properties. It will show the total storage size & how much is being used. I think the device is about 3.7 gb. City Navigator® Europe NT maps are 2.85 gb according to the Garmin site. Dont forget there's more data on the device also using memory.
