There's an interesting poll on the ADVrider site comparing the reliability of the final drive in both the 1200 and 1150 - and the 1200 is better.

OK the sample is small, the 1150 would likely have done greater mileage, but nevertheless it does support what the dealers say to me namely that the 1200 is more reliable than the 1150 was. :clap

If those percentage failure rates were a true sample of all bikes made, they would be unacceptable. But I guess that as usual more of those with problems post than those without.

Who cares ?

Buy the one you want and then tell everyone else their bike is an ugly, unreliable piece of junk.

:D

Neither of them as reliable as my last bike - A Ducati Monster :-)

Little Difference

After 120k on the 1150 with just an oil change and now nearly 50k on the 1200 without an oil change I can confidently say that whichever way you go it will be fine :D Big thing is to remember to put petrol in and annually check the tyre pressures. Apart from that they just go :thumb :thumb :bounce1

annually check the tyre pressures
Ooh! You bad man you! I hope when you do check them you give them a proper manly kick not a girly footballers kick? It's the only way to tell if they are at the correct pressure :D
