This thread does make me think a lot of people are on the wrong bike - theres nothing wrong with the standard set up for the style off bike - doesn't it feel a bit odd lining up behind BSB, specials, et all your local Stan Stephens :nenau

Well don't even consider having it done then. No one is forcing you to even read this tread. If you don't mind I will decide what is the right bike for me and if I find a way to make it better for my way of riding I will go ahead and do it. SFO.

Harsh?
No.

Too many prople who think they know what's best for everyone else?
Yes.

No, the GS fuelling is crap :blast

If I had bought another GS instead of moving to my Yamaha it would have gone to Hilltop, as did my ZZR as already expalined as that bike too was so much better to ride with the fuelling sorted (and stupid restrictions removed)

My Tenere runs much better with a tweak that removes the low gear restrictions Yamaha bestowed upon it probably to save complete morons who should not be allowed motorcycles from falling off (or possibly to sneak past the ridiculous emmisions and noise tests.

Funny how whenever a mod is universally praised by everyone who has had it done some people still come along and slag it off, claim it does not work or tell you that you must have bought the wrong bike - regardless of the bike or the mod.

Bikes are not perfect out of the factory and can't be setup for each individual owner, laws have to be adhered to, costs kept down and the bike needs a broad appeal.

I don't think anyone here was looking for more power and certainly not after BSB performance, but if you did want a bit more power on a GS whats wrong with that :nenau

Perhaps everyone who has taken their GS to Hilltop should have just fitted huge panniers and a set of knobblies to a Fireblade :nenau

Very well said that man.

I'm not after superbike performance. I own far faster bikes than the GS, thank you very much. This just makes the bike much nicer to ride for not a king's ransom. Try it, then knock it, eh?

Ive owned my GSA for 2 years now, a second hand 2008 bike. I can honestly say it's the best bike I have had, but and there is a but its fuelling was not very good. When the bike is loaded up with luggage and a pillion it was to use Blackadders phrase " like an asthmatic ant carry large bags of shopping".

It has always been serviced by the Local supplying BMW dealer, however having had the Hilltop remap the bike is nicer to ride and does not struggle under load anymore. I see this as a step forward and enhances the pleasure of riding it. Also considering that the remap highlighted the fact that the engine was running so lean that it was in danger of going bang.

So to sum up i am glad that it has been done, And as Reporter highlighted, its a free country if you don't want it done no one is forcing you.

Lastly a big thank you to Geoff at Hilltop, brilliant service from a all round good egg http://www.ukgser.com/forums/images/smilies/beerchug.gif:beerjug:

Whats your problem pal - I'm entitled to read this thread and state an opinion. Don't be so insecure - its a bit sad ;)

Seriously I take it all back - please forgive me

anyone had a modded gs1200 done with full remus k&n by hilltop? thinking of taking the pc off because of the shite wiring not being weather friendly

I'd have this done but as others have stated not because I think I'm going to get sports bike performance but to smooth out the throttle response.

Don't really know why some have got a problem with this and rubbish the findings of those who've had it done though :nenau

Would love to see the printouts if you have a chance to post them here. Very interested to see how your twin cam curves compare to my single cam. Geoff does an amazing job, like you said, feels like a new bike.

PS. Don't tell APE you had your bike re-mapped, he will go APE-SHIT.

Serious questions:
How can some bloke in a garage improve on what BMW sell you for about £13k?
Why if it is this easy to improve the bike don't the top designers and engineers at BMW do it in the factory?
Don't you think that the bike you spend £13k on should be as good as it can be when you have it delivered?

The engines are massed produced, therefore the tolerances in each motor will be slightly different, the engine map that BMW produces is just that, the 1 map for production, designed to the best they can get it to meet emissions etc, that factory map might be improved on slightly after the launch of the bike then when your bikes in for a service, providing you take it back to the main dealer, then they will update as and when, car manufacturers have done this for years without you even knowing.

So, for your 13k of bike, test 10 of them on the same dyno and they'll all vary somewhat, because each one is, as I said, slightly out to the next one, this is where the little guy in the shed comes in, he remaps the bike at set throttle openings to get the fuel/air ratio as spot on as he can, like others have said here, he'll dial out the dip you get at around 5000-5500rpm, often linked with emissions and noise regs, every bike I've had has been done, and not one has ever come back as a failure, the throttle pick up and smoothness is spot on, I'm perplexed that some people say they cant feel any difference!!!! they must have the sensitivity of a barn door lolol. Obviously with a GS most lads are not chasing more power, but the "feel" of the bike...

:clap
