Editied before someone comes along lol

and did you trim it as you went ..........:D

and before all the topiary puns start, leaf it out, yes he's twigged, no he's not branching out and no he wasn't hedging his bets

Just had mine done by Geoff. Results:

Before 84bhp @ 7919rpm, 64ft/lb @ 6023rpm

After 99bhp@ 7235rpm [+18%], 78ft/lb @ 5910rpm [+22%]

2007 GSA, Remus Headers + can.

As a comparison the bike makes what used to be its peak torque of 64ft/lb at 3500rpm and what used to be its peak power of 84bhp at 5500rpm.

All in all the bike is much more lively and the torque is linear making the bike much nicer to ride.

Geoff is also a top bloke. Found some nice roads on the way home to test things out.

Geoff's got another 12GS's this week alone....................:)

Word is getting around :thumb2

Excellent. 7k on mine now since the remap and I'm still so very, very pleased with it.

Used to be Nippondenso till 1996 when it was shortened to Denso.

Denso XU24EPR-U
Denso Iridium IXU24
Iridium Tough VXU24

If anyone can confirm,

Don't seem that common now, maybe expensive :nenau
4x Plain vanilla Denso XU24EPR-U spark plugs, £13.01 at York Motor Factors, Laythorpe, York

They didn't have the Coma Sonic 20w50 thou, "never heard of it" despite selling me exactly the same last year  bought that last 5lt container of it from Boyes store of all places £17.50

plugs

Well, as I have completely failed to make time to buy any replacements, if you arrive tomorrow with two spare ones, I'll take them off your hands :D

Sorry mate, the bike takes all four :(

BTW, I took the Boosterplug out in readiness for tomorrow remap then went for a ride up to Squires Café. Bikes stumbling along a bit now and surprisingly I had to down shift twice due to poor pickup, tomorrow should be very interesting

Have a good day boys. Geoff is an entertaining host and the ride home will be fun.

back home

Right then, back after day out at Hilltop.

Full report to follow.

Bottom line:

Max power initially 69.1 bhp , torque 57 ft/lb

After playing 97 bhp, 81.6 ft/lb

Happy camper :D

Just got back, so initial thoughts and dyno results as follows,
Prevmap,87.2bhp at 7096 rpm, 70.43 ft,lb at 5681
New map, 105.61bhp at 7721 rpm, 83.23ft,lb at 5688 (best of the day apparently)

I haven't changed the spark plugs yet and will prob leave till next service in about 2000miles, so these comments relate to the old plugs and using bog std unleaded, oh and bike is 2008 GSA ie not twin cam.

Engine now feels more responsive and refined throughout the range. The acceleration is more linear and on off throttle response much smoother. Despite the graphs showing more power I didn't really notice it on the road, it just felt less stressed. It was about 32 degrees (air temp) coming home so don't know if that makes any difference, but agree with all the other comments on here that it's a mod well worth doing. Will post up some more comments when had more time to digest, thanks to Geoff for sorting.

Give it a big hand full in 3rd or 4th from about 4k and change up at about 7 where peak power is, mine really flies now.

No doubt it will, but so far just ridden it as I normally would so I can see what the bike does lower down the rev range.

Looking forward to hearing what the others think.

What he said.

Also very happy with around town work - roll-on and roll-off transformed.

I have scanned and edited the curves ready to post and will get onto it with a few words when I get a bit of free time.

Did I say happy?

Greetings Shaun and the remap gang, warm day wasn’t it! Terrific improvement in flexibility and power, roll on from 60 is suddenly willing rather than lethargic. Rev limiter has been lowered slightly in the first 5 gears and raised in 6th, I’m sure I saw the speedo go right round the clock on the rolling road lol. I’m working on the charts and will post more when I’ve changed the plugs.

I'm a very happy bunny!

I put the Denso plugs in yesterday afternoon, it’s a fair job as you need all the plastic off just to get at the bottom two plugs, then went for a ride. Its like a completely different bike now, the most noticeable difference is how much low end power there is, it will pull away from standstill with virtually no throttle at all. First gear that once felt a little steep now no longer does, it just pulls away no problem. Its also amazing how low in the rev range you can go in any gear and pull away, in the lower gears, with a little care, right down to tickover, I can go around a turn now in third and she pulls away lovely. Roll off and on is transformed, instead of the harsh on/off that would have me feathering the clutch; it’s now a smooth transition. Cruising also seems better, the engine just seems happier and roll on acceleration is great, it never ever felt this willing. But, It is still slightly lumpy at very low speeds around town, it’s nowhere near as bad as it was and better than resistor tuning could ever achieve, maybe I’m expecting more than the design can give, I think I’ll just call it character and let it go at that. All in all its going to take some getting used too, so I’d best get some practice in while the suns shining :-)

Here’s an animated gif showing the power and torque before and after. It hardly needs explanation. The area I most wanted improving was below 4k, the HP there is improved, the torque massively, easily explaining its new low RPM tractability.

Is there still a discount UKGSER's discount on this?

Also, was wondering about the benefits of the ecu re-map against say the Interceptor, or Power Commander roots?

If I had noticed this before I may have just had the MY08 bike re-mapped instead of going for the DOHC!

Does this remap retain the stock lambda sensors ?
If after a couple of weeks the fuel level strip dies and I have to have the ECU flashed to calibrate the new strip would I loose this remap?:nenau

Possibly, my mate is thinking of going down this Saturday and the offer was on for him, best ask, say your a UKGSer...

I don't think a recalibration comes anywhere near re-flashing the fuel mapping, anyone else know?
