I seem to remember that the can be a potential problem when having the rear tyre changed on the 1150GS - was it something to do with the wheel rim needing special attention when the fitter puts it onto the spinny bracket thing otherwise it could be damaged? Taking it into Protyre tomorrow for a D607 ride in ride out (£90) and wanted to make sure they did it properly. Presumably they will know but I want to be sure.... Took my car in there today for rear tyres and they phoned me up because they couldn't figure out how to open the boot

dunno about any special precautions, but i've always found the bike tyre fitters there know what they're doing.

IIRC you're on the right path, in that it's how they mount the wheel onto the balancing machine that can be a problem.

you need a special adaptor to put an 1150 back wheel on a balancer. pro tyre have one.

Its no different from balancing a set of car wheels with a hollow centre, they just need to use a set of cones to centralise the wheel on the balancer machines drive shaft.

i use 2 tyre places. one uses cones, but don't have anything to mount a bmw wheel.

pro tyre have an adaptor with studs for bmw wheels.
