the threads are stripped in the body of the rear remote preload adjuster any ideas on a cure or where to obtain replacement would be much appreciated, can I assume that the only negative effect will be that the preload is constantly on its softest setting ? while not ideal this wouldnt be the end of the world as I know it

Happened to me with my first GS1150. It was still under warranty so they had to replace it ...... (the whole assembly including the shock).

I think mine had got full of water due to over enthusiastic jet washing ..:blast
and the threads stripped because it hydrolickised ..... if you know what I mean ... bit like what happens if you try to tighten a bolt in a dead end with some oil trapped in the bottom ...

You dont say how old or how many miles your bikes done .. :nenau ....if this is a known issue you could try your arm with BWM for a free replacement .. :augie

If you remove the black cap you can manually adjust the preload with a screwdriver (at least I think it was a screwdriver as someone else did it for me:) but it only takes a couple of minutes.
