Remote preload adjuster

I am looking at replacing the original shocks on my bike and noticed some come with the remote preload adjuster and others don't. I'm thinking of getting a shock without one as I don't think I'd use it that much once it's fitted and the bike feels ok.
Has anyone else gone down this route?

I got a pair of Hyperpros as replacement for the originals and the rear has a remote damping adjuster but no remote preload adjuster. Can't say I've ever missed it as, once set, they've not needed touching in all the years since.

I think you will only need a remote preload adjuster if you carry widely varying weights at different times (e.g. pillion and/or luggage). I fitted a used but very good condition Hyperpro rear shock with remote adjuster on mine and it transformed the ride. Another use for it is also to soften up the suspension if for example you ride a mixture of road types/conditions or go off road.

Personally, I think that after brakes. Suspension is the one thing you shouldn't skimp on... With the remote preload you can cater for all of your needs. Without it, you just need a pillion or luggage to mess it all up, at least that's if you can't adjust the preload...

I wouldn't want to be without it.
