After being stuck inside all weekend and watching the whole of Long Way Down I've developed a hankering for the Touratech fog and xenon spot light combo.

This would mean I need to remove my BMW fog lights. I don't think this would be a problem - the RepROM shows that after installation the bike needs to be programmed but I assume this is just so that the switch actually operates the lights. I think the Long Way Down bikes came with the fogs on and they were removed also.

Gave the forum a quick search but couldn't find anything - Anyone else removed the original fogs?

I removed my BM fitted spot lights when I was off roading in the Pyranees(spelling?).
The bike didn't notice they had gone!. When I put them back on, they worked fine.

I have just done a HiD convertion today for Tosser, used his o/e ADV lamps and made them H11 HiD 35 watt.:thumb2

And mine are a 1/4 of the TT price :D

Les, just a quick question do you have an easy solution for a setup like TT eg one of each (1 HID and (keep) 1 FOG)? I would guess it should be possible to hook one up (keep the fog) switched and the let the HID be controled by the main beam.

BTW from your personal point of view what HID upgrades mix/config do you reccomend for those of us that have the GSA with the original fogs preinstalled?

Cheers, that's what I thought would happen - thanks for the confirmation :thumb2

A better option is to HID the standard lights.

What I like about the TT ones is that you get both a spot and a fog light. The xenon spot comes on with the high beam and the fog light is independently switched (but wired in to the dip beam so it won't drain your battery by getting left on). Call me vain, but I also prefer the look of them - the extra light bar for the BMW fogs is gone and the TT Micro DEs are smaller and mounted closer to the beak.

I'm just weighing up different options at the moment.

You can have one Hid and one normal, and switchable in any way, but the DE's I have are both fog, as the spot DE's from the Hella range is a special and is only in spot with the Hid.

the best way for your bucks is the o/e fogs to Hid, excellent result for the money.

I also converted my OEM Fogs to HIDs using 3000K bulbs. The yellow lights not only throw some good light it helps to be seen as well.
