I removed the knee pads from my 16v K100RS the other day, leaving a gooey strip on each side of the tank. I used that double sided tape many years ago, rather than glueing the pads directly onto the tank.

Rather than spending a few hours gently scraping it off whilst knackering my nails, what's a good method/product I could use to removed it?

Heat first, then tar and glue remover is the best, but any solvent (just a bit safer than petrol, especially for smokers :D)

Definitely warm it up gently....a hairdryer is perfect, just keep it moving
Either an adhesive removal or sometimes WD40 will work but need to keep turning the cloth to a clean face

This works well

Try GooGone, available in spray bottle or just liquid. Removes all sorts of sticky stuff. If its really bad I soak the label or whatever with it, leave it a while the wipe off. Great stuff.Screenshot_20240707_072833_Amazon Shopping.jpg

Be careful of some of those products as they may damage paint

Isopropyl Alcohol and a cotton cloth and a PLASTIC scraper even an old credit card is pretty good

No scratchy pads and no metal scrapers (y)
