Anyone any suggestions for removing 'blue' from the headers of an R1250GS Exclusive TE? I did think Autosol Bluing, but that seems only for stainless (not chrome) and on the Exclusive TE the headers are chrome. TIA

You are wasting your time, it will come back again......and again

Accept it as a character of BMW Boxers

Akropovic titanium headers. If they’re going to go blue, do it properly.

This.
C.P. goes blue.
S.S. goes brown.
Ti goes rainbow.
You will rub your exhaust away trying to get rid of it...repeatedly
If you must, use this, as reccomended by the man who polished the SS exhaust on my Enfield...https://motherscarcare.co.uk/shop/mothers-mag-aluminium-polish/
it does seem to work on most metals and brings up Ali cases a treat. Not cheap, but you only use it sparingly.

I dont mean to hi jack your thread here Hawkeye so apologies....but im i one of the only ones here that love the bluing on pipes, ive always thought it looks the dogs danglers ;)

Thanks all for your replies - one thing I do love about this forum - no-one holds back in their views LOL!!!!!

I do understand that if I "get rid" of the blue it will come back quite quickly - however once a year I do like to give the old girl a damn good top to bottom clean, if nothing else just to check over every last little bit of her and in doing so, like to get everything back (as much as possible) to when she was first new. The rest of the time she gets ridden with a reasonable wipe over to keep her tidy. Given we are in lockdown at the moment, now seemed to be a good time to do it, and the headers were the last bit to do.

Like you @B15ape1981, I do actually like the bluing on the pipes, but also like to cut it back so it can re-asset itself in the coming year.

Thanks for all you comments, also thanks for the recommendation @fizzer, hadn't seen that stuff before
