Removing data (waypoints, POI etc) from previous owner - impossible?

Have you erased all routes out of the gpx folder on the navs internal memory

I have Lee - it recreates several gpx files in there upon restart but I presume those are required system files which it regenerates for current location etc

Well it appears to be fixed, though quite how it happened I still dont know. Resetting the device and plugging in to a fresh install of Basecamp on the Mac showed none of the data which previously showed up on internal storage. I backed up the device, restored it again on the Mac then plugged in to the PC after uninstalling Basecamp, Garmin Express and deleting the Garmin folder (which uninstalling didnt do itself), then reinstalling *again*. Now the data is gone from the PC also, so exactly where I wanted to be.

God knows why it simply wouldnt go away despite several reinstalls and wipes on the PC alone, but whatever happened whilst plugged in to the Mac seems to have fixed the issue.

Thanks for all the input, now away to get to grips with Basecamp itself ;)

Use BaseCamp on the Mac. Seems to run better than the PC version . It's a totally different program on the Mac.

I think you'll find favourites are stored in current.gpx in the GPX folder in the device memory. Copy this file and temp.gpx to a backup location on your PC and then delete them from the device. This should get rid of previous favourites. Make sure they are also deleted in Basecamp so that you don't inadvertantly reload them. current.gpx and temp.gpx will be recreated when you transfer a fresh route from Basecamp.
