Removing front Axle....which tool?

I am going to be giving the RT1200 a going over with ACF50 in the morning, and I plan to remove the front wheel to ease access to the trickier parts. I haven't had the opportunity to remove the front wheel since I purchased the bike.

Could someone please point me in the correct direction to the tool I need (size/type) for removing the front axle....

I've just done mine...... took me a week!!

I take all of the fairings, rack, bodywork, footpegs, exhaust, etc. off. Clean it to within an inch of its life, allow to dry. Clean all plastics. Apply lots of wax to plastics. Blast the bike with ACF50 blown on using a compressor. Refit plastics. More wax, and away!!
Still looks like new after being used through two winters though.

I leave the wheels on

Quick search on ebay should find one, or try Chris Shaw stainless in Lincolnshire. He has a website with lots of stainless fasteners for BMW's.

The tool is simply a piece of hex bar about 75mm long which fits in the axle. Stick a socket on the other end and wind it out after first releasing the pinch bolts,unbolting the calipers, removing the painted part of the front mudguard and the ABS sensor
Good idea to put some gaffer tape on the rims when you remove the calipers - there isn't much clearance when they slip off the discs. And wedge something between the pads to stop them getting pushed out if you accidentally squeeze the brake lever...
Big block of wood under the engine to hold the front up, or something heavy in the top box is a good idea too

Yep, like the cheapo one I put the link too!
Any bit of 22mm hex will do it; it's only tightened to 50Nm.
