I have done a search but cannot find help.

Is there a nack to removing the front shock on a GSA?

With it all disconnected the shock is about 10mm longer than the gap between the top yolk and the bottom yolk at its lowest. The ESA shock is longer than the standard unit.

Can anyone help?

If it's a GSA be sure the petrol tank has minimal fuel. Too much weight and the tank flexes and the rear mounting bolts wont go in however hard you try.
