Right I've followed these instructions I found courtesy of AL in se Spain on an old post

"Remove the two forward-facing screws securing the rear-frame-stiffening crossbar at its right-hand end and withdraw it from that side"

Ive removed the 2 screws but it wont budge. Should it just slide out to the right or is it threaded in on the left side and needs to be unscrewed? I notice there are two "spanner flats" on the bar but even with a wrench on there it wont move.

Maybe its rusted in? Bike is 18 years old 50k miles and I doubt its ever been removed, so I'm thinking rusted in ?

Any tips or advice gratefully received.

Likely stuck If you get a good dose of penetrating oil in there to start the easing process I presume you have the rear frame up a bit (a least above the bolt hole) to clear the bar coming out and those two M6 bolts are better out so you can spray more loose oil in there too

I like any of those graphite penetrating oils my favourite being Fuchs Silkopen WD 40 dries out whereas the graphite helps ease the thing out

Give it a lash of penetrating oil

Let it sit overnight or for half an hour if you are impatient

Screw an M10 bolt in the more threads you can get in the better

Give It a decent clunk with a decent hammer and spray more loose oil over it and Keep tapping

Thanks for the info:thumb At least I now know it's just corroded in.

Yes frame is raised.
I've dosed it in penetrating fluid , heated it , whacked it with hammer on M10 bolt but it's still there. :blast

I'll just keep at it. As I say doubt it's been out ever so be lots of corrosion I'm sure.
