Removing rear mudguard

Hi all,

I thought it would be an easy job, just replacing the rear lamp housing on my 2001 GS.

After having to completely destroy the lamp housing due to rusted bolts etc, and dismantling most of the rear end of the bike ( am I making this simple job too tricky, or does BMW want me to take this simple job to a dealer ????), I managed to lose a torx bit down the back of the mudguard.

Now I've mangled one of the rear mudguard torx bolts, so any one got any ideas how I can access the bottom of the extensive mudguard near back of engine. Hopefully then the torx bit might just fall out ???

Perhaps I should have kept my trusty (or maybe RUSTY) old Bonnie, I could strip that down in minutes, but had to every trip.

Yours low tech spanner man (Nigel).:beerjug:

Nigel - is the "mud guard" that thing that sticks out in back of the rear wheel?
Sometimes called a "possum scraper"? If that's it, get a saw and cut off what you don't want. If you choose to leave it, it'll fall off eventually.
