Excuse the stupid question and yes I have done a search..;) but I am going to take off the tank side panels for the first time; and i don't want to snap anything... Is there a technique?
Usually, I just steam in there and break something,:blast but I thought I would be sensible this time...

Thanks... I need to get an owners hand book; any ideas where I can get one?

It's an 06 1200GS

If I was a gambling man.... I would say..... A BuMW dealer....

But I have never won the lottery. :D

As a temporary fix http://www.bmw-motorrad.dk/dk/da/index.html

Then: SERVICE

Then: DOWNLOADE MANUALER (That's Danish for Download manual)

They are the wrong year but will do most of the basics for an 06 bike.

Careful though...

If your bike's an 06, it'll have different side panels to the one in the above-mentioned manual...

There are 3 quick-release fasteners to undo - two on the outside of the panel at the back and 1 on the inside at the lower front corner (this one needs just a quarter turn anti-clockwise to release, so that the grip on the fastener is vertical).

Then there's a peg near the top of the panel at the front end, which pushes into a grommet on the frame. Prise this out carefully, coz there are also plastic tabs on the painted beak & tank panels which pop into slots along the top of the side panel. Once you've waggled these loose, the side panel is free.

Easier to do than to explain... :D

Oops, forgot to say thanks to Geordie Steve...

When i looked at the manual, it omits to tell you about the 3rd one sneakily hidden on the inside!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
