Anyone able to give me a talk through on removing the ABS from the 05 1200 with servo brakes?

I did an Alternator conversion last year, so no stranger to the underside of the fuel tank or a spanner. Just need to know exactly what parts I'll need and what can be done about turning off the warning lights.

The only guaranteed reliable way to keep the ABS is to replace it with a new unit, at more money than I can justify just now. Maybe when I win the lottery eh!

Ta Val.

You need the following parts from Motorworks (tell them you are removing the ABS):

BRA50965A

BRA95966

There is a third part that they sold me (and took back no problem) BRA50965 that I did not need as it already fitted to the 2005 model.

Fit these two pipes (one connects the rear brake pedal directly to the plumbing to the rear caliper and the other fits near the headstock). I caught all the fluid coming out of the orignal pipes in a container. Press the brake levers a few more times to trigger the servo to pump out the last of the brake fluid from the ABS unit.

Then bleed the front and rear brakes in the old fashioned way, the resorvoir you can see is now connected to the brake caliper.

I plugged the disconnected pipes to stop anything getting into them but left them connected to the ABS unit.

The dashboard will now light-up like a Christmas tree. Remove the front cover from the instruments and reconnect, you will now see the LED's that are flashing away. Paint over them with black paint (a couple of coats) and replace the cover.

My ECU tried to keep activating the servo when turning the ignition on for a couple more days but gives up after a while and no longer does it.

You can split the ABS unit and remove all the piping and I will do that when I have time.

The pipe near the headstock is a bit fiddly to fit but the rear one just clips in, I have done mine twice and the 2nd time took under an hour including bleeding the brakes.

Hi Val, I did that last year. If you give me your email address I'll send you a document with step by step instructions, including photos. I cant upload it here because its too big a document with all the photos,
Coxy.
