Hi Guys

This thing is driving me nuts. Any idea how to remove the tumblers from the cylinder lock? I have six of those and I don't want to waste money buying other 6...

Thanks a million

They’re a friction fit. Push out with a pick or thin screwdriver from the side that’s flush with the cylinder. Watch the spring disappear ...

I m pushing from the side where the tumbler is in line with the cylinder..nothing is happening..:nenau:nenau

You should be able to simply grip the top of them and lift them out, I've done a few recently and they come out with ease?

The videos on the link provided above show this, t is easy once you ahve watched it, but as mentioned, remember there is a small spring at the bottom of each one, and the end one is different from the others.

so basically you suggest to pull the tumbler out from the side where they are not aligned with the cylinder?

Grip the tip of tumbler with small pliers, they normally fall out & springs disappear, if unsure trial & error will persevere or get a mate who’s done a few to assist..

No one around me has done it unfortunately...can I ship to you at my own expenses? Wasting 7 cylinders and spend 120 quid for other 6 is utterly stupid...thanks..:beerjug::beerjug::beerjug::beerjug::beerjug:

That lock looks like the more secure BMW lock that I have fitted to the cowl on my HP4.

This lock needs the cover taken off first. The face plate (where the key is inserted) is crimped on as can be seen in the photo.
You must first take the face plate off by levering it near one of the crimps. Do this carefully as when it is removed the spring loaded flap that keeps the crud from getting into the middle of the barrel is exposed.
You will now see a dot under where the face plate was this is the end of a security pin. Squeeze all the tumblers in with one hand and tap the barrel into the palm of your other hand, the pin (about and inch or so long) will fall out and all tumblers can then be removed.
Careful with the springs, they are tiny and if they fall to the floor you will not find them again.

Once you have configured the tumblers, just the reverse process, use a hammer and punch to reseal the faceplate.

If in doubt do the strip down in a large clear plastic bag on a table or bench top, if the springs do come out they cannot disappear
