Hello! My mate Ash has just removed his baffles on his KTM Akros- sounds awesome; I was wondering what would happen if I remove the baffle in my Remus Revolution? Although I notice it is rivetted in place- it came with a spare rivett... Has any one else removed their baffle, and if so... did it sound awesome? or was it a waste of time? :augie

Drill the rivet and give it a good tug :thumb2

It sound sthe bizz - dont even know where ive put my baffle even if i did want to repalce it :aidan

The sound would be a little deeper in a god way :thumb2
But you will only gett a really good sound and better performance if you change the headers as well.
The angle of the cylinders on the ktm gives her a different sound, wich can't be compered on the boxer.
(I'm not shure where the ktm has the cat?)

is there any BHP to be gained by removing the baffle? and how good is the end result noise-wise? i am in 2 minds whether to actually go and do it- as the rivett needs drilling- but i could always put a bolt back on to replace it??? ideas anyone?

To liberate a few BHPs you need to get rid of the cat - otherwise it's just a noise increase.

True...fit a set of Remus headers. I've still got the baffle in my can and after fitting the headers the bike's got a fair bit more go and it's considerably louder. It's still, ostensibly, road legal as well......:augie

Thank you- so removing baffle only equals more noise, how much noise? too much noise? i need more info- if possible... bit worried whether to remove it or not

Well if it's a consideration, the can ceases to be road legal once you remove the baffle. Also, you can take it out and put it back in again, replacing the rivet with a nut and bolt so you can try it and see. I don't think your seat-of-the-pants dyno will be able to tell any difference with or without the baffle, although your aural dyno might lull you into thinking there is one.

I've a Remus race can with no CAT and you have to ride fast to try and leave the noise behind ;) It's a real headturner when accelerating and on overrun but I do try to take it gently going through villages and when passing police though as it is rather loud :augie
I kept the original can on for a bit after the recent MOT but couldn't stand it's noise.
Note : The 'Not for Road Use' etched on rubbed off with a bit of Duraglit in two minutes flat .............

you should have got an m6 screw with your can drill out the rivet, the baffle has an m6 thread in already , certainly sounds more fruity but you lose top end ,and you will melt your number plate ,especially with panniers on

ok looking good- m6 screw! will i definately melt my number plate? I ride with my panniers on a lot- dont want to be chased by flames from my number plate! but want the noise- maybe akrapovics are the way to go?

yep you will melt the number plate with the baffle out believe me ive done it only answer i know of is get a smmaller plate not stupidly illegal but just enough to miss the hot gases or back up the original plate with a piece of aluminium sheet , hope this is of use been there done it

From a seat of the pants point of view there's no power advantage to removing the baffle and it's LOAD but only when you blip the throttle at contant revs it's not much louder than with the baffle in.
