My wife has an F650 GS 2006 single cylinder in black which I 'tricked up' for her. I sprayed her crash bars black, got her a K&N filter (not that she really cared about that one), Baglux cover and bag, high screen, and as her stock panniers had minor scratches and dents here and there, I put a huge amount of work into cleaning, sanding, and then respraying them so they are eggshell matt black. I was really impressed with the end result they look the business and suit the black bike much more than the aluminium ones in my opinion.

As we were planning a tour to Portugal I got her the lining bags for the panniers too. My last modification is where I messed up as for her birthday I bought her a Remus exhaust system. Little did I realise that the stock panniers do not fit with these.

Rather than taking the advise that everyone else had given on test packing the bikes 2 weeks in advance, I waited until the last day (I can be somewhat forgiven as we were very busy and had so many other preparation jobs to do), and once my wife had packed I tried, and tried....and tried to fit her panniers. When it dawned on me that they would not fit with the Remus cans I was gutted as I'd put a lot of work in. In the end she used some soft panniers from Hein Gericke which cost just £25 and are absolutely brilliant (Streetline model).

What I wanted to ask is if anyone knows a cheap way to modify the brackets so that the stock panniers will fit with the Remus cans?

If not then its either fit the original cans or maybe sell the panniers. My wife is a tomboy which was even more evident when she said there is no way I am removing her Remus cans!!!

Having broken one of the mounting brackets on the back of a Variacase box, by just leaning on it , I'd suggest keeping the cans & replacing the luggage.

Hi,as it happens i am after some replacement cans for my gs650,mine are buggered, and dont mind putting standards back on.Would you be willing to sell?

My twin spark has Remus exhausts and I use standard panniers, yes they are a tight fit, but with a bit of thought Graham made them fit easily and I use them all the time. sue

I would be most interested to know what he did as we had a nightmare. I guess he must have moved the exhausts themselves as there is no way on earth I can manipulate the panniers into place with the exhausts as they are. Any tips welcomed!

Cheers.

If you give me your phone no or e-mail Graham will call you with pleasure, if you look on Motorworks site under Remus for the 650 you will see a picture of them fitted. Graham e-mailed Remus but they did not reply, disappointing as we have had many Remus systems over the years, however a bit of perseverance and they will fit. Sue

I am now subscribed but I dont think your profile allows me to send you a private message. Rather than having my phone number and email available to all and sundry, is there any way I can get my email address / phone number to you?

Found the picture on Motorworks, and looks like a nice neat job. Do your panniers get hot at all? I have heard of some people fitting heat resistant material to the edges of the panniers that are in close contact with the exhausts.

Aye, look on bridgeofbrowncrafts.co.uk and e-mail Graham there.
