Hi , I am running an 04 GS 1200 with REMUS headers and I would like to fit a set of lower engine bars but it seems SW MOTECH and BMW are not suitable only WUNDERLICH are ok, I am sure somebody must be running REMUS with engine bars , if so which bars have you got fitted ???
Regards

I had Remus headers on an 08 1200 with the standard GSA bars. Also had Akraprovic pipes. Lots of clearance for either system. Both have to be assembled on the bike the side with rear hanger bracket fits before fitting the other side. Try to fit the headers in one piece and you will struggle.

Engine bars however I dont have - prefer to use the folded aluminium shields.

HI JM
the early Remus hesders had the O2 sensors located on the horizontal part of the exhaust like the Original BMW headers but unfortunatly they put them in the wrong place and they fouled the BMW and Motech engine bars.
They then redesigned them and located them further forward on the headers where they slant upwards this allowed you to use the BMW and Motech engine bars.
So it all depends which Remus headers you have, I know this sounds strange but I hope it helps.

My 2005 GS has Remus decat headers and Stainless Motech engine bars with no problems.

They were fitted by the previous owner though, so I can't comment if there was any difficulty in the actual installation. They all seem to clear each other though..

I also had an open Akro can on, but it was too loud, so I have the OE can on.

Thanks for the feed back, :clap, the explaination about the early REMUS HEADERS answered my question. That's the type I have fitted. Looks like its WUNDERLICH engine bars for me.

Anybody a set for sale :augie

My Remus headers have the O2 sensors on the angled section of pipe. The only issue is needing to unclip the plug & socket from under the cylinder because the leads are just a teensy bit too short. But the fitted length is perfect with no flapping wire loops to get fatigue stressed.
