Go gentle with me, my first technical question. Purchased my 2008MU GS1200 back in September not realising it was fitted with 'Remus' headers.

Having searched previous post etc I now know there's a problem fitting most engine bars due to the position of the Lambda sensor.

So, just which bars will fit a 2008 model GS fitted with Remus headers?

Hopefully I've included a photo showing just what the problem is.

I've got 2008 1200GSA with Remus headers and the std OEM bars fit just fine :thumb

Just realised that's probably not much use to you on the std GS.....I'm sure someone has some other bars fitted with the Remus headers.

I had Hepco and Becker engine bars fitted for five years, eventually they started rusting. Took them off and was pleased with the weight saving.

Cost of a replacement rocker cover is less than the purchase price so maybe they aren't worth it?

trouble is low speed drop could hole the rocker cover so no further journey that day, crash bars plus machineart protectors a good idea imo

Compared to the weight of the bike they are well worth having.

BTW, Remus headers fitted fine on my 08 GSA. The only issue was the slightly short O2 sensor wires but once plugged in they did fit without pulling the connector.

My 2006 GS came with standard bars and I changed to Remus headers OK.

I would prefer better bars with more wrap round protection and have acquired some but haven't got round to fitting because I need to figure out some spacers and bolts

Not my bike - from some advert

I had Remus headers on my 08 GSA. I cant see them having any effect on crash bar fitting.

The headers are basically the same as standard but without the balance pipe and a slightly fatter tube diameter. Also, the O2 sensor is a little further away from the cable connector bracket so you need to unclip the connector before disconnecting the sensor.
