Whist my bike is in being repaired (again!) thought I'd strip off the Remus to give it a little clean. Being alloy and having gone through a particularly salty winter its looking a bit worse for wear.

However, when removing I descovered the threads had stripped where it had engaged the captive nut welded to the foot rest hanger. It now means I cannot put the Remus back on until I've got a replacement bolt:mad:

Questions are:
1. Anybody else had a similar experience??
2. Where can I get a pukka remus bolt from to replace??

Cheers

Have not had similar experience, but from what you say I think I would be getting an equivalent sized / shaped stainless steel bolt as a replacement and fitting it with liberal use of coppaslip or similar.

had the same thing but putting a big washer onthe inside ive since found out will cure the problem ie between the hangar next to footrest plate ....... the nature of the hanger seems to encourage overtigtening cos i did it to ....................cured it by using a drill bit to just take the theads back a touch to allow the bolt through without stripping it again find someone with a tap and dye kit ..it only take 5 mins to re thread he end for you for the price of a pint or two
the bolt is long enough on the inside of the footrest to get a washer and LOCKNUT on without taking the original off and making a mess of the paint seal
hope this helps

Managed to locate the uk importer (Performance Parts Ltd.) and I think they're going to sort me out a replacement.
