Anyone any idea what size/diameter link pipe is that fits an 1150GS or 1100R Remus can. I have a 50mm external diameter link pipe on my 1100GS & want to find a second hand Remus can that will fit (albeit with possible mounting modification). I don't want to limit the search for something thats only suitable for the 1100 so I'm looking at 1150's.

Now I realise that some of you are probably eating, some are still hung over & some couldn't be arsed because its cold out there in the garage. But I bet there's one who is looking for an excuse to don the GS bobble hat & scarf Santa bought him, dig out his new digital calipers & answer my query!

I've a center piece and a remus on my other bike. Wonder can i move it over? I'll be keeping an eye on your thread:thumb2

What is a link pipe ? from what model do you want the diameter ?

The 1100 has a two into one down pipe that exits on the right side and leads to a single pipe that the exhaust connects to.

The 1150 has a two into two down pipe that runs each side of the bike then it leads into a two entry cat or Y piece that then leads to the exhaust.

link pipe

I've seen a few times on ebay a pipe thats described as such for the 1100 - however the weird part is that it clearly only runs under the bike - so needs a further length of pipe to run up the side of the bike to the 'silencer'

It certainly isn't the right shape to go from the headers all the way to where a 'slip-on' could be attached as per OE. Course it could possibly be for a lowered exhaust.. but he doesn't mention that.. and even so - still seems the wrong shape. (too short)

some chap is fabricating them here in the UK. in S/S

Its a S/S link pipe I bought off Ogni, been custom made I believe. Goes from the headers, then under the bike to where it joins the "competition only" end-can I'm trying to replace. hopefully the photos (if I've sussed out how to post them!) will show what I mean.

LOL.. well after seeing that my other post is nonsense.. yes it looks very similar to the one I've seen on ebay. must have been the pics that were misleading.

looks very tidy does that.. and I rather like that can. compared to the more usual plain alloy remus.

btw - why limit yourself to a Remus?

The Remus silencer inlet from a 1150 is only 44mm and does not fit.
Any 50mm slip on silencer will fit, as a lot of jap bikes use that size.
Cheap and lots about in race or e-marked form.
I hope that helps you.

Hi ogni, how you doin?

Yes been looking for a jap bike can but not come up with anything suitable sofar. Looked at a few but found they were either not road legal (been booked last summer for my Dukes Termi not having the baffle in!) or too pricey. Have seen a Remus for an 1150 but didn't know what the inlet diameter was. So now I know I'll keep searching.

Thanks

Yes the can looks good, also sounds ok, problem is its stamped very clearly "competition use".

Don't confuse sounding faster to actually gaining any performance by fitting an aftermarket exhaust.:D

I went through a whole load of different exhausts on my 1100. The best setup was a Remus grand Prix with the Remus collector box. Sounded and ran great.

I take it you're referring to what Motorworks list as the "Remus stainless steel collector box replacement tube" or do/did Remus produce a collector box replacement for the 1100?

Might be talking about what was called an 'S' piece - which is similar to what you have. if not virtually identical.

there's a thread that talks about it here - http://www.ukgser.com/forums/showthread.php?t=36625

I think the one you have is better in many ways due to the exit size which allows a much larger variety of end cans to be used.

Thanks motobiker, thats one I missed on the search facility or maybe I'm just not using it correctly:confused:
Still I did manage to upload photos for the first time & thats a result!:clap
Maybe I should have a go at uploading an avatar....wish me luck
