I'm interested in getting an aftermarket pipe with removable baffles for the GS. It seems that the Remus Revolutions are the common fitment and they look the business.
Got a few questions about them that I'd like advice:
1. I've heard one of the cans with baffle in, but with the replacement downpipes that remove the cat. This sounded great without the baffle out. I'm on a budget though and only want to spend money on a new can. So what does the GS sound like with a Remus Revolution, baffle out, but with standard downpipes and cat?? I'm after a nice 'fruity' sound, nothing too offensive. Don't want it too quiet either. Not bothered about power gains.
2. I've read on the Touratech site that they do three versions, alloy, titanium and carbon. Having owned bikes with alloy and titanium cans in the past, i fancied going for the carbon. The touratech site however states that this cannot be used with the modified downpipes (no cat). I rang touratech and they had no idea. I thought it maybe something to do with temperature i.e. the carbon is only good for the lower temperatures downstream of a cat.
3. The touratech website states that this can will give the 'true boxer sound'. Will the carbon can be noisier?? I've always thought they might be as its a thinner, more brittle construction. Can anybody provide a comparison that has heard the differnt remus cans??
4. The touratech website also mentions that you need a pipe extender for use with panniers. The touratech guy implied that this went on the outlet of the silencer. This must look cr@p, any comments??
