Fitted new Remus Y piece and Titanium can @ w/e and have left Lambda sensor plugged in . Problem is that idle speed has jumped by guess 400 rpm - does this need dealer adjustment to injection system or does anyone know of simple cure ? Grateful for any advice and for what its' worth first impressions are only marginal performance gain and a hell of a lot of noise even with baffle still fitted. I am making trip to Ireland next week and will refit o/e silencer .

I agree with Para here.

You may get a slight idle speed gain due to the fact that the engine is now breathing better but 400 rpm sounds excessive. Did you by nay chance interfere with the throttle cables by the left hand cylinder when you were fitting the Y piece ?.

If you have vacuum guages or a twinmax, you can adjust your idle speed by using the brass adjustment screws on the throttle bodies (turning them clockwise) - but you need to do this with the guages connected so that the idle is balanced.

As Para says, check everything and then check again. Is the lambda probe properly connected ? - do you have any leaks in the exhaust system ? - did you seal any of the joints with sealant ?

BTW, where you going to be in Ireland ?

Reset the Motronic engine management system. Pull fuse 5, count to ten, replace fuse, ignition on and twist the throttle TWICE to fully open. Ignition off, then start as normal. If this does not cure it, do a throttle balance check / adjustment and reset to correct idle speed. Do a search for more info - it's all here! :)

try adjusting the brass idle screws on each throttle body. You will need a vacum pressure gauge (or two to make things easier)
It is a 5 min job

this is exactly the reason i chuck my beautiful GS at cannons and they can put the remus on for me!

i just know that what ever can go wrong for me will,

Ill pay the £35.00 or so to know its sorted.

my Adv gained about 200 rpm after the remus went on.........got sorted next service..and you shouldn't have to pay for it either ;) ;)

Try taking the baffle out....most of us who have done it reckon it makes a much more pleasant, lower 'fruitier' sound :D
