Any good?

Just wondering.............is there any merits over the stock system, apart from the obvious weight saving and maybe aesthetics:nenau

johnny - are you going back to an 1100 ?

rob farmer as well ?
everyones getting an 1100 suddenly :nenau

PS - they sound better and feel better - haven't seen a dyno say they are better on their own though.

I've put a TFI box on mine with a Laser - certainly goes better now.

seat and bars are the best change though

Hey JB....can`t wait to see the new one :thumb

My shiny red 1100 has a Remus twin spout oval Viper can on the Remus intermediate silencer box.
It sounded exactly the same as stock until about 5000 miles later when it became nicely 'throaty' yet only just louder than stock.
Throttle response is ever so slightly better.

My Kalahari 1100 has a Remus oval titaninium Revolution can on the Remus link 'S' pipe which is almost straight through.
It sounds like Armageddon and the throttle response is fairly savage compared to the other one.
(I still haven`t checked to see if this one is chipped though).

Pop round if you want to compare them :beerjug:

Agree with Tarka.

Johnny, you heard mine at Rosedale with the Remus Titanium and everyone said how good it sounded. Throttle response does seem crisper all through the rev range.

Deed is done, Phil

Bought a mint 1999 Red 1100GS, with only 1 owner and 11700 miles from new, which already had a month old Remus Titanium straight through system, a la Tarka's Kalahari

The original BMW system came with it too, along with some other useful extras (HB Bars/Baglux/Pannier Rails etc)

I noticed it was lumpy through town with the Remus, but nice on the open road

Going back to an 1100...............yep - it's a progression from an airhead which stops and handles better naturally.............took your advice,Phil ...........and anyway it's my 10th anniversary on a GS, so decided to get the bike that started it off for me, a red 1100GS in 1997

R1100GS...............retro cool and better value than a 100GS PD:D

Still keeping the 1150 Adv though...........another iconic GS:bounce1 :P :D :augie

Hiya JB glad to see someone else with the best:thumb
Ivce got a Laer can and mid pipe on mine and the response etc does appear to be better than with standard pipe.
As for the sound, much better.
Having said that i do sometimes put the standard pipe back on from time to time, especially if im doing a long ride. The noise does tend to be a bit intrusive , even with ear plugs.
