I know this might seem like i'm going round in circles but when it came to the crunch I couldn't go through with spending £1000+ on a Akra system and i've been offered a full Remus at an excellent price.... So a few questions!

How noisey is it with the baffels out? Does the bike seem to run better? How does it affect economy?

Does anyone know when the power commander type thing is due to be released?

Oh anyone had their bike dynoed with the remus on!?

Thanks to all for putting up with my neverending questions! :clap :bow

Franky,

I put a Remus carbon slip-on on my 1200GS a few months back, and i've put about 2,500kms with the pipe on so far. It's not the full system but a bit of extra performance seems noticable...however it's not huge gains by any means....

The sound is more "throaty" with the baffle out and isn't insanely louder than stock. Just enough to please the ears.

There is a small weight savings to be had with a slip-on over stock so the rear end felt a bit easier to throw around in corners.

And as for power, it feels like it gained more in the mid-range than anywhere else....

All in all, for the price, it's a good upgrade...even if it's just for a better sounding exhaust note. If you want more HP gains, then your best bet is to go for the full Remus system....It's still half the price of the Akrapovic!

Cheers

I've put just the Remus end can on. No noticable difference in anything except noise. With the baffle out it is spot on. Give it some thottle and you get a nice bassy exhaust note - when cruising there is not a noticable difference against the standard.

I'd imagine that only by removing the cat do you get the performance - if you think its really required.

Ride mag ran a recent comparison with the Akra and full remus on the editors long term 12. With a full remus the engine appeared to be running lean which indicated that a power commander might be needed. The article went on to say that remus (although denying that this would cause long term problems with the engine) are due to bring one out soon (I think…)

In conclusion they seemed to be saying that fitting a full remus and having a power commander would bring the total price very near to that of the Akra (which according to their dyno tests makes much more power across the range). However as you have picked up a full remus at a good price then perhaps adding the power commander will be fine for you… :nenau
