Just fitted the Remus end can and was wondering what the bit that hangs down off the link pipe is for?

Protection?

That bit`s to stop the centrestand when it springs up. Has it got a rubber bit on the bottom? if not it NEEDS one! otherwise the metal of the centre stand will just crash into it when you take the bike off the c stand. A top tip is to gently take the bike off the c stand & keep your foot on one of the c stand feet & gently let it come up to the exhaust then you can check if its in the correct position or not, also check the other side where the foot is near the swingarm to check if it`s too close.

Just took the bike of the main stand to see.

The stand does not come near the dangly down bit of the exhaust and there is no fubber on the bottom of it.

I know the 2006 bike has a different main stand but thought I would ask the collective for their thoughts. :thumb

Any chance of a pic? What does the c stand rest against on the bike when its on its sidestand?

Have you asked Remus, Bos shows a similar bit in a similar place? BTW I don't know if Bos used a 06 / 05 bike :o

If it uses the "foot" on the main stand that rests against the standard can when its up the "foot" has rubber on it anyway.

OK excuse the qulality but its late and I can't find the decent camera.

First off this is where the stand sits in the rest position, on the right hand side just under the brake light switch.

As you can see the stand on the other side is no where near the bit on the exhaust, but having seen the pic of the Bos it seems like there is a similarity of the design.

The plot thickens.........

The centre stand on your, and the 2006 bike, is redesigned and now has its bump stop on the RHS instead of the LHS as earlier bikes were.
The can you have is old style so you could cut off the bracket BUT then you wouldn't be able to sell it to the owner of an older style bike when you get fed up - so I suggest you leave it where it is.

Sherpa ;)

That explains it! The new bump stop is in a much better position than the old one IMO

Could you tell me which luggage rack youve fitted to your bike?

Cheers

Sure can, it's Hepco and Beckers pannier frames in silver, well made and in my opinion looks good whether the panniers are fitted or not as it is a pretty close match to the colour of the bikes frame and does not look out of place. :D
