Hi

I've just fitted a titanium Remus race can to my 1150GS.
It looks great but I'm not riding it yet SNOWED IN!

Can anyone advise about the REMUS label that's pop riveted on (and I suspect stuck with double sided sticky taps or worse)?

Call me a minimalist but I reckon it'd look so much better on my silver GS with the label removed. Has anyone done this? Can it be done without spoiling the can's finish? I realise you'd have to blind pop rivet the holes but are there other more tricky snags like removing glue residues.

Cheers

Remus can

Hi Dave, Likewise I have just fitted my Y piece and Remus titanium end can. Once I had got everything sorted I couldn't believe how easy it all went together. Sounds awesome. As for your query re the logo. It must be a personal thing I think it looks the Mutts nutts! Can't wait till all the snow and salt have gone to give it a blast.

Logo on Remus

Thanks Kamae and David S

I take it it's leave well alone.

Actually I'm coming round to thinking the Remus logo does look ok.

Also waiting for salt to disappear.

What you can do is apply a litttle bit of solvol autosol and a lot of elbo grease to the end of the can.

Polishes up nicely and guess what - the "Not for road use" print just disappears!!!

Titanium Remus can

Advice about Autosol on the 'not for road use' printing on the can end was great, comes off easily.

As regards that alloy Remus name plate on the side, I still didn't like it so after a lot of 'shall I shan't I' had a go at removing it.

It comes off perfectly so long as you are very very careful. First drill the pop rivet heads off (keep the can on the bike it stops things slipping). Then using dental floss to cut some of the transparent glue blobs underneath and a non metallic thin lever, sliver of wood etc. carefully prise the label off. Thats the finger-nail chewing stage over. Then its hard rubbing with white spirit to soften and remove the gooey blobs and a clean with Autosol. Lastly refil the holes left where the label rivets were, I used small pop rivets. The label-less Remus looks v. good/much better to me!

Warning don't slip with the drill and make sure it's sharp!!!
