So let me get this straight:

- You believe you can get 24 more Km/h in 100 or even 200 RPM?
or
- You believe making your bike breath better can automagically make it run faster on the same RPM? (automagically change gear ratio)
or
- For some reason you can go over the preset limiter? (you already said "no" on that)

I seriously doubt you can get 24 more KM/h in the last 200 RPM (between 7500 and 7700 if we accept that you got near 220 in 7500). You cannot go over 218 with ANY setup that doesn't change gear ratio OR/AND push higher or disable the limiter.

It is so simple. Something in your equation doesn't go right.

(btw there are quite a few modified -even heavily modified- 12GSes in here... nobody claimed what you claim - Remus is not even THE best choice for heavily tuned 12GSes - if we can say "heavily tuned" for a GS... if you ask me 244 is out of the question with your setup - and I mean even going downhill)

That just about matches what I seen from mine, Remus headers, Arkrapovic can & Power Controller and as you say when the rev limiter kicks in the old snifter valve does some panting.

I seriously doubt you can get 24 more KM/h in the last 200 RPM (between 7500 and 7700 if we accept that you got near 220 in 7500). You cannot go over 218 with ANY setup that doesn't change gear ratio OR/AND push higher or disable the limiter.

You've got an interesting point here NLS, I am sure this could lead to much further discussion on this forum, I just had a similar debate with a colleague at work, he races cars He come up with the same theory as you, the top speed is limited by the gear ratios, wheel size and rev limiter. I would have assumed that if all other factors remained constant and you merely increased the engine power (by whatever means) you would get more power per stroke and thus the engine revs would run lower, to reach the same speed? Hence you would now have scope to increase the revs and hence increase the speed I gotta go and do some research to understand this

Revs/gear ratios are the determing factor.

Increased power will get you there quicker or pull taller gearing but WILL NOT make you go faster at the same revs (with the same gearing).

FWIW I run a full BOS (about the only system to significantly increase power) plus a fuel controller plus a K&N plus a cut down snorkel and I've seen nothing like the speeds you are claiming.

Given that I don't believe you to be lying, I'll ask again, just how accurate are GPS's

And how accurate is the speedo on the R12GS, I have pushed the needle some distance past the 220km/h, into the GS logo?

The 12GS speedo is pretty accurate in all the "normal" range - that said, I wouldn't "ask" for it to be anywhere accurate when the needle goes close to (and over) 220.

GPS is the thing to look, NOT speedo - but even if the GPS says 244 (and GPS is pretty accurate) then I have to question the GPS, as I cannot question simple physics and mechanics.

To put it again in very simple words (I've already done it, but I feel I have to say it again): you plain and simple CANNOT go over 218 even if you nitro-boost your 12GS, unless you change the ratio (almost impossible) and/or remove (or push higher) the limiter.-

In even simpler words: Better not tell people that know even the basics, that you got 244 and better not believe it yourself too.
