Could anyone with a genuine Remus Y piece tell me if the diameter of the pipe at the can end is the same size or slightly smaller than that of the cat please.

cheers in advance...Rob

Same size pipe thats why you can fit the standard end can to a y piece:D

Sorry Ming - not wishing to contradict - but I think he is after the following

The inside diameter is the same but the outside diameter is slightly smaller
that is why you need to use Remus clips or pad the BM ones out a little with a metal flange, (beer can thickness)

I would agree, but add that if you take the spacer out of the BM exhaust clip it will allow the clamp to close down that bit more. Plus, you might have to add a couple of washers coz you "may" run out of thread.

Y piece

Robb, I can tell you for sure that the standard can or a Remus can will fit on the outlet end of the Y piece. You should use the oe clamp with the shroud for either of these configurations.

However, I have experienced a 'rogue' Remus Y piece where the alignment of the 'in' and 'out' ends would not allow fitment. The rogue item was swopped by Motorworks. I did have both items side by side and could clearly see the diference! maybe the same Remus inspector passed off your Y piece?

I fitted my Remus Y piece (with standard BWM silencer) last weekend. Everything fitted.

Please ignore last two words if at Princetown I'm relating tales of silencers and Y pieces and their rescue from the fast lane of the M5:D

You carn't take that beautiful spacer out - pad it out a bit

Also when you sell the Bike and want to put the Cat back on - it is neater with the spacer

Just my distorted view

 'beautiful spacer'

We must but talking about different things here Para? The one that I am refering to is the shaped spacer that is pressed on to the shank of the OE exhaust clamp bolt. The idea of it is that it stops the exhaust clamp from being over tightened.

So I am right in thinking that the Remus Y piece inlet and outlets have the same internal diameter as the cat but the external diameter is slightly less which is the reason for replacing the original clamps or removing the spacer to allow them to be tightened a little more.

Can't see the point myself but, does anyone have a Remus can fitted to the cat?

Yes to the first question.

Somebody did it a few weeks ago I believe?

Not sure why, coz its the Y-piece thats makes the differance.
