Y piece, standard can & pop pop pop
I recently put on the Y piece with the standard cat. Loads of popping and backfiring on deceleration. Did the Steptoe mod ie link wire instead of the cat code plug. Still loads of popping. So today I took the link wire out, so nothing there, and it's still popping like a good'un, to the point it's likely to scare pedestrians in town!
Now, when I got the y piece off Ebay it didn't come with the 2 clamps to clamp it to the downpipes and the OEM ones were just too big so it wasn't sealing properly. This would explain the popping. However, I've got smaller clamps and the seal is much better. Is there anything to use to ensure this is absolutely leakproof without messing up the lamda? I've read on here that silicon can bugger it.
I'm not a mechanic, but surely if unburnt fuel is igniting in the pipes there's something wrong. Can anyone advise which cat code setting I should be using, as all 3 I've tried have still had popping (OK before up to temp, and generally pops between 4 & 5k decelerating). I really don't want to run the bike so it damages anything, and someone must have the same set up without the popping! Standard can, y piece (with lamda) OEM air filter 2001 1150GS. With my Tuono, I put on a PCIII & got a custom map done, but pennies won't allow that sort of cosetting!
